A product of filash.io

Simple web app, that everyone needs, simply transfers, manages, shares files with Legends.

Features

The main idea around which filashAir was designed and built is shares, by utilizing the share feature of filash Legend server. Each user has a home share called 'My shAir' that is allocated by the administrator when the user was invited, the inbox was set as well at the same time to receive files from other users, and invite other users to upload to or download from 'My shAir' or other shares. 'My shAir' is not typo.

Administrators can create additional shares and grant access to users. Users can plugin Pylon (installed on the laptop/desktop) and create shares like 'Downloads@My Mac', 'Documents@My Desktop' to download from or upload to either 'My shAir' or other shares.

  • multiple-documents-files Created with Sketch Beta. Files

  • The Files section is the main section where you can explore, filter/search, manage files of various shares. Search and delete operations are jobs that run in the background with the status being updated live. This is helpful especaially when the search or delete is against a big and complex directory structure and it takes time.

  • send-email Created with Sketch Beta. Comms

The Comms section is for users to

    1. send files directly to other users' inbox in 'My shAir'.

    2. invite other users to upload to or download from wherever designated with an expiration. Users can then send or download files by the invitation within the expiration.

Notice that by inviting multiple people to upload to or download from is fanning in or fannning out files, so multiple transfers will be going on the same servers or clusters and sharing the network fairly.

Notice that shares on local Pylons or servers may not be accessible to remote users, and filashAir has no reliable way to determine this case, so be careful not to send an invitation to someone with a local folder/file reference. The best practice is upload local files to 'My shAir' and send invitation with file references in 'My shAir'.

  • Transfers

The Transfers section is where users transfer files between shares, such directions as local-from/to-remote, remote-from/to-remote, even local-from/to-local as long as Pylons or servers are reachable to each other.

Notice that multiple transfers of all different sources and destinations on servers/clusters all over the world can be done in one click. In such case, files are fannning out or fanning in on the same servers or clusters and sharing the network fairly.

  • Contacts

This is the section where users can be invited, viewed, or managed. The first user is registered to be the first administrator. All users other than the first one must be invited and allocated with 'My shAir' with the inbox set.

  • Xfer Accounts

The is the section where servers or Pylons are plugged and managed. An xfer account is an user of a filash server/Pylon. As long as the logged in user has the credential of the xfer account, it can be plugged in and managed.

The super user on the local Pylon can be plugged in here.

Notice that a plugged in xfer account with a host like https://localhost:55000 is not accessible outside of the laptop/desktop where it was plugged because of 'localhost'. The best practice is that use the ethernet ip address if you want to access it from somewhere other than the machine that plugged it in. For instance if you want to access the desktop in the office from home via your company's VPN, use the ip address will make it accessible when you work from home.

  • Shares

This is where the main idea happens. Users can create new shares on the filash servers/Pylons, and grant access to self or other users. Granular access permissions are available.

  • storage-solid Storages

The is where to manage storages on the filash servers/Pylons. Files can also be managed in the storage.

  • Xfers

This is an administrative section that shows the transfers on the current xfer account. Running transfers are live tracked.

  • diary_fill Events

This is an administrative section that shows the events on the current xfer account.

  • Settings

Settings section allows users to update personal information such as name and it also shows information such as role and the inbox.

It has a Pylon tab to create an 'admin' xfer account on the local Pylon, and plug it in, and create a storage pointing to the current OS user's home directory, and create a share pointing to the 'Downloads' folder in the storage, all with one button click. You can achieve all these manually though by going through Xfer Accounts, Storages and Shares sections.
